In:Most – Changes / I Know (Soulvent Records)

Posted by Dan on 23rd March 2017

Keeping the ball well and truly rolling following their recent Pictures In My Mind EP, which I absolutely raved about in my last review, the UK/Australian duo In:Most now have a lovely little single out on Soulvent Records (to whom I wish a belated happy 3rd birthday – ’twas a sick night indeed!), and, as per expected, we got some right corkers ‘ere!+69

Throwing us headfirst into jam territory, Changes is a brilliant little booty-shaker (an act I was ashamedly caught in the middle of during school, when I first heard this…), which gets the balance just right between sweet ‘n’ smooth, most noticeably during the intro, and outright gnarly on that bassline. Those random little string plucks are a great addition too! Meanwhile, to follow it up we have I Know, a chunky, heavy-hitting, yet finely polished diamond of a tune – with a drop vaguely reminiscent of Krakota’s awesome The Cover Up from a couple years back.

In addition to these two charming tracks, In:Most have also thrown in a sneaky VIP of their wonderful tune I Can’t Do, the original of which came out on the Soul Sessions Vol. 2 album late last year. It switches things up a bit compared to the previous tracks, with your typical Drum & Bass beat set aside for a more hat-orientated drum section. However, having heard this played out at Soulvent’s 3rd Birthday, I can confirm it still hits surprisingly well on the dancefloor! It also allows for the beautiful synth and key layers to shine through a little better if you’re going for a soothing listen at home.

In:Most are making waves right now, and I would happily stand underneath them and be thoroughly drenched if it means I can get a few more earfuls of such wicked choonage. Keep going strong lads!
