The Best Drum & Bass Releases Of 2016 So Far

Posted by Adam on 3rd July 2016

Earl Grey – Dorsiflexsion / Karmic Sprain (Inperspective Records) – Buy
Inperspective was a new label to me this year but between this and an EP from Lynch Kingsley I was hooked. This one from Earl Gray really impressed me and it came on the SICKEST picture disc vinyl.

The Vanguard Project Vol. 1 (Spearhead Records) – Buy
Villem & BCee’s new alias made it’s debut on BCee’s Spearhead Records and that debut EP yielded this beauty.

Deadcode – Bomboclat (Deadcode Records) – Buy
Without a doubt one of the biggest tunes of the year came from Finnish duo Deadcode as they followed up their debut release, which came out on 31 Recordings, with the absolutely FIERCE Bomboclat.

Rawtekk – Here’s To Them – (Med School Music) – Buy
Another act on Med School delivering their 2nd album was Rawtekk. This LP sounds like nothing else I’ve heard this year and is exciting as it is obscure.

TMSV – Sound System (Rua Sound) – Buy
A second appearance from both Rua Sound and TMSV now as the Dutch producer made his debut on the label with this extra dubbed out heavyweight single

Hybrid Minds Feat. Tiffani Juno – Touch (Hybrid Minds Music) – Buy
The kings of powerful and emotive liquid Drum & Bass, Hybrid Minds, launched their own label and the first release was just beautiful.

Lynx – Vault 1 (Detail Recordings) – Buy
Having parted ways with Hospital (read more on that here) Lynx delved into his archives and released an album full of music that made him so popular in the first place.

Conduct – Borderlands (Blu Mar Ten Music) – Buy
Conduct’s debut album, Borderlands, only came out a couple of days ago but it is by far one of the best albums I’ve heard in a long time. It’s unlike anything else that’s been released this year and will stand the test of time with ease.

Hugh Hardie – City Soul EP (Hospital Records) – Buy
Hugh Hardie’s debut release on Hospital was a long time coming but it was well worth the wait. Every track on the EP is incredible but Light It Up has become an anthem.

Dr Meaker – Dirt & Soul (Circus Records) – Buy
Last, but by no meals least, is the new album from Dr Meaker. This album actually takes my breath away every time I listen to it and is, without a doubt, a future classic.
