New Talent Traced Drops Us A Guest Mix & Talks About His New Track On Mayan Audio
Posted by Adam on 31st May 2015
Fresh off the back of featuring on Mayan Audio’s Kalima EP I grabbed Traced for a couple of questions and he went all out on a huge 60 min guest mix which you can listen to here.
Hi Daniel, how’s things mate?
Its going great, busy but great thanks.
Congrats on being part of the Kalima EP. How did you hook up with the guys over at Mayan Audio?
Thank you. I have been getting the Mayan promos through cygnus pr and the label blew me away i was taken back how id never heard of the artists before but yet the level of production is awesome, only a few releases in and it already was becoming a favourite in my sets so i thought id send them a demo to get their feedback and see if they would be interested in signing some of my tracks. then a week later I got a email back saying they loved it and would like to hear more so Gary and Tony the label bosses came to my studio for a meeting they told me the plans they had for the label and i was impressed with how passionate they were and how much work they have and are putting in and the ambition. and the rest is history as they say.
Tell us a bit about your track ‘Phobia’ which features on the EP
I started Phobia as a track aimed really for my first single on Mayan. The boys were out in Prague at Let it roll winter fest for the Mayan after party and id put up a video clip on my Facebook page. The boys saw the clip and contacted me and said they wanted to put it on the various artists ep.
What or who influences you when making music?
Artists wise at the moment Mefjus is a big influence also A State Of Mind, Phace, Misanthrop, Mind Vortex, Inside info the new Joe Ford ep is pretty sick!
what normally influences me is film scores I’m big into movies mainly sci fi and horror and the film scores for me play a big part.
Give us your top 3 tracks to play out at the minute.
Pale Blue dot by The Prototypes has been in my sets since last summer i love the way the bass and the drums sit so well together and the pump on that track just sounds wicked.
Modestep – Machines (Mefjus Remix).
Black sun empire & A State of mind – Ego
What’s can we expect from you next in 2015?
I have another release forthcoming on US based label Cybalism which features the vip of my track first contact and a collab with my bro Calvertron called Dr0ne which will be out on his label Jack knife also I have done some remixes for some other labels.
And At the moment I’m busy in the studio just getting tracks together for my next release. There is some other exciting stuff going on within the Mayan camp that I’m not sure I can share just now but the whole team have some serious shit going on which I’m sure will blow people away.
Finally is there anything else you want to tell us about?
Just thanks for featuring my Guest mix and hope people like the selection I’ve made.
